Autocracy
Autocracy is a free turn- or "tick"-based strategy game playable over the Internet. Players in Autocracy assume control of a particular country in the gameworld. The objective is to be the best - the largest, the richest, the most powerful, the most influential. To achieve these goals, players must build their armed forces and keep them supplied, research technology to improve their economies and fighting ability, coordinate industrial efforts, and build alliances with other nations. To top it all off, battles in Autocracy are fought by units (custom-built by the player) depicted on a full battle map, over which the player has operational control. Front lines exist, and logistics, tactics, and strategy are just as important as everything else.
Features:
- Completely free play - no subscription or payment required
- Players control an entire country in the gameworld - control everything from research to military strategy
- In-depth tech tree - research gets you better weapons and increases the power of your farms and industry
- Over 20 types of aircraft, 40 types of ground units and 7 types of ship allow the creation of unique custom military formations
- Units are moved on a map - gone are the complete abstractions of other games
- Control system unique to web-based games - players control military units at the operational level
- In-depth combat system - everything from terrain to air support to unit mobility affects the results of combat
- Natural resource system - fight over the important resources. Supplies are limited, so controlling them is key
- Integral alliance/diplomacy system - unite with other players and conquer your way to victory
- Player-run economy - sell military equipment for a healthy profit
Autocracy is currently under development. We expect to begin public beta testing in the spring of 2004.
CSBLd
CSBLd is a unique software plugin for the popular multiplayer action game Half-Life. Cheating is a major problem in Half-Life, as it is in many online games, and while effective methods existed to detect cheaters on a per-server basis, this did not resolve the problem, since cheaters could simply move to another server (Half-Life, and its associated modifications, are playable on tens of thousands of servers). CSBLd enables a server's cheat detection software to connect with a central "blacklist", or a listing of known cheaters, identified by Half-Life's unique ID system. If a known cheater connects to a CSBLd-protected server, he/she will be automatically banned forever. In addition, when a server's anti-cheat software detects a new cheater, he/she willl be automatically added to the blacklist. Nearly two thousand servers around the globe utilize CSBLd, and to date the system has caught and listed nearly five thousand cheaters.
The latest version of CSBLd is always available at downloads.dfstudios.com. Further information about CSBLd and additional features, including tools that allow visitors to browse the blacklist, are available at www.csblacklist.com.
SE Engine/SES
The S/E Engine, or Socio-Economic Simulator, is a web-based games in which the player assumes the role of the head of state of a country. The player must manage the nation's affairs, and in doing so must deal with government policy, diplomacy, finances and taxation, public health and utilities, transportation, imports and exports, national defense affairs and national industry. The aim of SES is to produce as realistic a simulation as possible of the affairs of a small country.
SES is currently in the planning and pre-development stage. We expect to begin public beta testing in June or July of 2004.
